Hello everyone, I am currently planning the installation of Ikea Metod cabinets in my kitchen and have two main goals: maximizing storage space and saving as much room as possible. My question is very specific: How can I configure and assemble Metod cabinets to make the best use of the available space, especially by smartly combining narrow and deep sections, using corner storage effectively, and at the same time ensuring the cabinets do not appear too bulky or take up too much space? Which modules and interior fittings are particularly recommended? Also, are there any experiences suggesting whether a variety of inner drawers or special corner solutions provide more extra space? I would also appreciate tips on materials, assembly, and customization. I look forward to your ideas and experience reports!

A careful consideration regarding your topic: For maximum storage efficiency, proper planning before installation is crucial. Especially with Metod, you should pay attention to the dimensions of the different available cabinet heights and depths to ensure optimal space utilization. Corner solutions, as mentioned, are somewhat more expensive but provide the greatest long-term value by utilizing otherwise wasted space. It is also important to consider the load limits of the shelves to prevent sagging.

For interiors, I recommend choosing the most flexible organization systems possible that you can adjust as needed. This avoids storage becoming impractical over time. If you like, I can also share tips on the best installation methods.

Do you have a specific room layout or particular dimensions we should consider?

Thank you for the detailed response! My room is about 3.2 meters (10.5 feet) wide and 2.7 meters (8.9 feet) deep. The cabinets are planned along two adjoining walls, forming a 90-degree corner. The ceiling height is 2.5 meters (8.2 feet). I want the cabinets to be as tall as possible but not reach all the way to the ceiling. At the moment, I’m leaning toward a mix of standard depths: 60 centimeters (24 inches) for base cabinets and 37 centimeters (15 inches) for wall cabinets. I mainly want to store pantry items, dishes, and cookware, as well as some small kitchen appliances.

Thanks for the room dimensions, that’s very helpful! Here are some assembly tips for the Metod system based on my experience, which can really save you time and frustration:

- Start with the corner cabinets, as they provide the best reference points for aligning the other units.
- Avoid assembling tall cabinets alone – having an extra pair of hands helps ensure precise alignment quickly.
- Use a spirit level and construction adhesive at connection points to secure firm stability and straight lines.
- The Metod fittings are sturdy, but despite the clear instructions, it’s worth double-checking connections during assembly, especially with the drawer components.
- Be mindful of weight limits, particularly for heavy appliances – the middle shelves are designed for this, rather than the top ones.

If you can provide more details about the cabinet types you plan to use, I can offer more specific advice. Are you already familiar with the interior drawers, or would you like some tips on how to optimize storage with them?
