lenkeo57Hello everyone, I have a specific question: How can I assemble IKEA Metod cabinets to maximize storage space in small rooms? I understand that the basic modules and widths are fixed, but I want to plan as efficiently as possible to make the best use of the available space—such as by combining base cabinets and tall cabinets, and possibly using corners and alcoves. I’m also interested in how interior fittings, like drawers, internal compartments, or shelves, can help use the volume effectively within a minimal footprint. What tips do you have, especially when the room is quite tight and there’s little flexibility in floor space? Are there any special adjustments or tricks to keep in mind during assembly to avoid wasting any area in small kitchens? I look forward to your experiences and suggestions!

MELANIE417 Aug 2015 15:03It is best to use tall wall cabinets that reach all the way to the ceiling and combine them with base cabinets featuring pull-out drawers. Pull-out drawers are especially useful because they allow for much better organization of items compared to standard shelves. Additionally, it is worth fitting corners with corner cabinets or rotating inner shelves to make effective use of otherwise wasted space.

It’s best to use tall cabinets that really reach up to the ceiling and combine them with base cabinets featuring drawers.I completely agree! 😊 Especially in small kitchens, tall cabinets are real storage heroes, perfectly utilizing vertical space. A tip from me: take your time with the planning, because sometimes adjustable shelves or special organizers help turn chaotic stacks into neat rows.
Also, don’t forget to equip the doors with clever hooks or small shelves – this gives you extra space for spices or kitchen tools. And if you’re struggling with corners: a carousel unit in the corner cabinet provides much better visibility and makes great use of every corner. Good luck with the installation!

How do I assemble IKEA Metod cabinets to maximize storage in small rooms?I completely understand what you mean – space is often a real challenge in small rooms, and I have often wondered how to find the best solution as well. One tip from experience: don’t hesitate to experiment with the interior fittings. Sometimes it’s worth combining smaller drawers and pull-outs within a large cabinet instead of just having one big compartment.
I’ve also learned that you can customize individual IKEA Metod modules, though it takes a bit more effort—such as installing additional shelves or adding small accessory holders. This way, you really make use of every centimeter (0.4 inches). And don’t be afraid of the assembly itself; sometimes it’s like a small puzzle where you find the optimal setup step by step. I wish you success in finding the solution that feels right for you!
