Hello everyone, I am planning to build a multifunctional storage solution using the Ikea Besta system and am looking for tips and suggestions. Specifically, I am interested in how to combine and modify the Besta units to serve different storage purposes—such as for books, electronic accessories, and possibly as a small workspace or display area. Ideas for suitable modules, useful accessories (e.g., doors, drawers, inserts), and practical modifications are very welcome. It would also be great if anyone has experience with a sturdy construction that not only looks good but remains durable under load. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions!
Hey, I really like how creatively you’ve already gathered ideas here!
I would also suggest adding small magnetic chalkboard surfaces or whiteboards to the outside of the Besta units. You can then use the doors as multifunctional message boards – practical for notes or to-do lists. Another popular idea is installing self-adhesive LED strips inside; carefully applied, they enhance usability and add a cool factor!
And hey, who says storage solutions have to look boring? A mix of wood finishes and white elements really adds charm.
