Hello everyone, I am currently considering how to use the Ikea Platsa system as efficiently as possible in very small rooms. My room is about 9 square meters (97 square feet), and I want to create storage without making the space feel cramped or impractical. I am especially interested in tips for the optimal combination of wall cabinets, base units, and drawers. Are there specific layouts or module sizes that work particularly well for small areas? I would also like to know how to best plan the system when both open and closed storage options are needed. Has anyone had experience adapting PLATSA flexibly to changing needs in a small space? I look forward to constructive ideas and possibly technical details to better understand what to pay attention to.

Are there any special room shapes or challenges that one should be aware of?Exactly, that’s why I wanted to ask about the details.
For example, if the room has sloped ceilings, PLATSA can be adapted very effectively since the modules can be separated and varied in different ways. Caution: Assembly frames should always be securely fixed to the wall and floor. Otherwise, everything can quickly shift or become unstable.
Regarding flexibility: The module supports are relatively thin but provide stable connections when properly installed. For extra stability, I recommend including rear support braces as well.
Finally, a tip for the planning process: It’s best to use the Ikea PLATSA planner but supplement it with actual measurements and carefully consider movement patterns. Not every planner takes into account that, for example, drawers need to be fully extendable in front of the wardrobe or that doors should not hit furniture.
