Hello everyone, I am currently planning the setup of my guest room and would like to use the Ikea Pax system for this. My question is: How can I best plan the Ikea Pax system for the guest room to maximize storage space while keeping the design flexible and also taking into account the size and use of the room? The main goal is to store clothing, bed linens, and smaller luggage items neatly without making the room feel crowded. Does anyone have experience with Pax planning specifically for guest rooms, tips on the best combination of width, height, and interior fittings, or advice on what to watch out for to avoid needing major adjustments later? I look forward to concrete suggestions and recommendations, including any common planning mistakes to avoid. Thanks in advance!
A small tip regarding planning the depth and height: Standard Pax cabinet boxes are usually available in depths of 35, 50, and 60 cm (14, 20, and 24 inches). For guest rooms, I recommend 50 cm (20 inches) because it makes good use of storage space without being too deep. If the room is very small, 35 cm (14 inches) depth can work, but standard-sized hangers will not fit.
Regarding the height: I suggest choosing the lower version of the cabinets (about 201 cm (79 inches)), especially if there is no sturdy ladder to reach higher shelves. In a guest room, the entire wardrobe is often not used daily, so medium heights are more practical.
Finally: Be sure to position the cabinet doors so they do not collide with the room’s door frame or other furniture. This sounds simple, but it is a common mistake.
