Hello everyone,
I am currently facing a challenge with assembling my IKEA Hemnes wardrobe. My room is very narrow – only about 120 cm (47 inches) wide – and there are radiators nearby as well as door thresholds with different heights. My question is: How can I best install the IKEA Hemnes wardrobe under such difficult space conditions without compromising usability and stability?
I have read that sometimes it helps to disassemble the wardrobe and assemble it in parts, but are there any special tips to keep in mind? Perhaps regarding leveling small floor unevenness or whether to modify the back panels?
I am looking forward to your experiences and advice so I can avoid mistakes and place the furniture as optimally as possible.

If space is really tight, I remove all the doors and install them inside the room later. This is a useful tip for dealing with limited access. Doors can cause space issues during transport or assembly.
Additionally, I recommend installing a protective plate on the wall behind thermostats or radiators to prevent damage if the cabinet is installed very close.

Maybe for leveling small floor unevenness or whether to modify the back panels?Modifying the back panels is only advisable in cases of very tight space constraints. However, always ensure that only minor parts are removed to avoid compromising stability. Alternatively, self-adhesive furniture corner protectors can provide stability and protection without altering the back panel.

Also, when assembling, it’s always best to work with two people, especially in tight spaces. This helps to hold construction parts securely and prevents damage.
