Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble my new IKEA Brimnes furniture together with another person and would like to know: What is the best way to assemble IKEA Brimnes furniture with two people?

I am especially interested in optimizing division of work, tool organization, and procedures that save time and make the assembly safer. Does anyone have experience with specific steps where having two people is particularly useful? I have basic knowledge, but a good plan would be helpful for the larger parts and for alignment. Thanks!

Hello Oleski,

Regarding the topic: What is the best way to assemble IKEA BRIMNES furniture with two people? Here is my detailed advice:

- Preparation: First, carefully sort all screws and parts by type and assembly step. A large table or flat surface is helpful for this.
- Tools: Ideally, use a cordless drill with torque control, a small screwdriver, a rubber mallet, and a carpenter’s square.
- Division of work: While one person holds and aligns the parts, the other can screw them together. Especially when assembling wardrobe doors, one person should hold the door in place.
- Step by step: Proceed piece by piece; avoid trying to assemble multiple modules simultaneously.
- Tips: Use the IKEA instruction manual as a guide, but also rely on mutual checks. It can sometimes help to tighten screws only lightly at first to allow for adjustments.

It would also be interesting to know whether you are assembling the wardrobe set, dressers, or beds, as the difficulty varies depending on the model. Do you already have a preference on which furniture you will be assembling?

First, unpack and sort all the parts. Then go through the assembly instructions together. One person holds the parts in place while the other screws them in. Important: Insert the screws loosely at first, then realign everything before tightening them securely.

Great that you want to do this together! 🎉 From my experience, fun and clear communication are key!

It’s best to have a clear division of tasks:
- One person holds large parts (especially for doors)
- The other handles the screwing/fastening.

Make sure you’re always on the same page. This keeps things relaxed and helps the work go smoothly! Good luck!

Thank you for the explanation! Specifically, it’s a BRIMNES wardrobe with sliding doors as well as a BRIMNES dresser. I’m a bit concerned about the alignment of the sliding doors, although I have some experience with the dresser.

Are there any special tips, especially regarding handling the doors? Do you think it’s better to fit the doors before the main body is fully assembled, or rather at the end? And how can you prevent the doors from sticking or running crooked?

The sliding doors on the BRIMNES wardrobe are best installed at the very end.

- First, fully assemble the cabinet frame and carefully level it. Use a spirit level to make sure everything is perfectly straight.
- Check that all guide rails are properly secured and that no screws are loose.
- It’s best to handle the sliding doors with a second person, as they are quite large and unwieldy.
- When fitting the doors: hang the bottom guide rail first, then the top one to avoid tilting or jamming issues.
- If the doors still stick, double-check that the rails are straight and firmly fixed. Minor adjustments and gentle shaking usually resolve most problems.

It’s similar with the dresser: always insert the drawers after assembly and check if they slide smoothly. If not, a slight adjustment of the rails is often enough.

How many people are helping you with the assembly? Two or more?
