Hello everyone,
I am currently planning my new kitchen with Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets and facing the challenge of securely mounting them to my concrete walls. The walls are solid concrete and load-bearing, but I am unsure about the best installation method and the appropriate materials to use.
I am particularly interested in which type of anchors and screws are suitable for the different elements (wall cabinets, shelves), how deep the anchor holes should be, and if there are any special tips for preparing the concrete wall (e.g., pre-drilling with a hammer drill, cleaning out dust). Additionally, it would be helpful to know if Metod cabinets can generally be mounted easily to concrete walls using Ikea’s original wall mounting system, or if alternative solutions are recommended.
I look forward to your experiences, tips, and recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Metal expansion anchors can often be a safer alternative here,Thank you for the tip. For me, safety in everyday use is especially important, as the kitchen will be heavily used and loaded with weight.
Are there any recommendations for metal expansion anchors that work well with the IKEA mounting system? Alternatively, should I consider installing a secondary frame to create a wooden substructure?
Or is this just overengineering? How have you actually solved this with concrete walls?
For those who want to be absolutely certain: attach a stud frame with wooden battens to the concrete wall, then fix the Metod mounting rail to the wood.
Clear advantage: easier installation, wall cabinets can be screwed on, better adjustment. But of course, it requires more work and materials.

Screw a wooden batten frame to the concrete wall, then attach the Metod mounting rail to the wood. This worked well for me too. It makes it easier to align the cabinets and, most importantly, to remove them later without having to repair the wall.
Plastic anchors are not always strong enough for heavy loads, so if you have heavy upper cabinets, use metal anchors!
