Hello everyone,
I recently assembled an Ikea Metod kitchen cabinet and am now attaching the doors. I've noticed that when closing the doors, there is a relatively loud rattling noise. My specific question is: How can I install Ikea Metod doors to ensure the closing is as quiet as possible?
I suspect the issue might be related to the hinges or the way the doors are mounted, but the Ikea instructions do not address this specifically.
Does anyone have tips on how to reduce noise later on, possibly through special adjustments, dampers, or additional materials?
I would appreciate any helpful advice, including how to adjust the doors or prevent vibrations.

A simple trick to reduce noisy cabinet doors: use soft felt pads or foam rubber buffers where the door meets the cabinet frame. This dampens the impact very effectively.
Adjusting the hinges for softer closing is also important to prevent the doors from slamming fully against the cabinet edge.
I can recommend this from personal experience.

So, after your tips, I readjusted the hinges and applied self-adhesive silicone buffers.
The result: It’s noticeably quieter and smoother when closing. Thanks for the advice on the screws and the recommendation for the dampers!
I’m now wondering if adding a very thin felt strip to the inner sides of the door helps reduce minor vibrations, or if that doesn’t make a noticeable difference?
Looking forward to your opinions, thanks.

It helps prevent slight residual vibrations or minor impacts when closing against the frame edge.
The important thing is to use something that won’t interfere with the function of the hinges. Thin, soft felt is ideal. Just try it out—if the gap isn’t too large, you’ll usually notice a clear difference after a few weeks.
