Hello everyone, I am planning to install an IKEA Metod kitchen and want to attach the countertops without any visible screws or fasteners. My main questions are: What methods are suitable for securing countertops firmly yet without visible fixings? Are there specific brackets, adhesives, or other techniques that ensure a secure and long-lasting installation? It is important to me that the countertops have a clean appearance afterwards, with no screw heads or brackets visible on the outside. I would appreciate any tips, experiences, or detailed instructions.

Use countertop fasteners from underneath.
These are sturdy and invisible.
When joining two countertops, additional construction adhesive is recommended.

I would add that when joining two countertops with an adhesive joint, it is essential to ensure a precise and smooth edge so that the adhesive adheres well and the joint remains discreet afterwards.

There are also special mounting clips made of plastic or metal that can be attached from underneath and do not allow any visible fasteners on the top surface of the countertop. These clips grip the panel on the underside via a strip and are screwed inside the cabinet frame.

Also, make sure that the screw heads do not penetrate through the countertop and cause any deformation.

In general, observe workplace safety when using the clips and adhesive, especially when handling tools and the adhesive itself.

Simply screw from the inside using countertop clamps. Invisible and stable.

I am planning to install two laminate boards with a thickness of 3.8 cm (1.5 inches) side by side as an L-shaped countertop.

This is a quite common situation in Metod kitchens, especially with L-shaped layouts. Here is the detailed procedure I recommend:

First, test the exact positioning of the base cabinets so that the edges of the countertops fit precisely. For joining two boards, it is advisable to use so-called "countertop connectors" with a groove or tongue, which are screwed in from below to center and firmly hold the boards together.

The attachment of the countertops to the cabinets is also done with brackets, which are screwed from inside the cabinet carcass and press the countertop downward using a wing nut or screw. These brackets are completely invisible as they are placed under the countertop and between the countertop and cabinet edge.

If you want additional security, you can apply small amounts of silicone or PU adhesive to create a non-slip surface between the countertop and base cabinet, without using adhesive over large areas, as that would make removal difficult.

Pay attention to the offset of the countertop edges to avoid sharp edges that could cause tripping. It is important to ensure an exact fit without gaps, as laminate edges are sensitive and can warp if mounted incorrectly. If you provide the exact measurements and the distance between the base cabinets, I can also give you specific product recommendations.
