Hello everyone,
I recently got a small kitchen and want to use Ikea Platsa furniture because it’s very flexible. However, I’m facing some challenges, especially regarding space during assembly. How do you assemble Ikea PLATSA furniture in small kitchens when the working area is very limited and there is hardly any room to spread out the parts or rotate the furniture during assembly? Are there specific strategies, tips, or tools you would recommend to make the assembly possible even in very tight conditions? Additionally, I’m interested in whether it’s best to plan from the start which modules to combine in order to optimize future modifications and space requirements. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hello peoix5,
I understand that limited space during furniture assembly can quickly become frustrating. Ikea Platsa is generally designed for flexible planning, but small kitchens can indeed be tricky. Here is my advice:
- Assemble the modules as much as possible on the floor in another room, such as a hallway or living room.
- Use soft cloths or blankets when turning and positioning pieces to avoid damaging the furniture.
- When mounting the units on the kitchen wall, you can temporarily use straps or clamps to keep the modules stable while you screw them in.
- Plan your work steps so that you rarely have to move more than one piece at a time.
This way, you reduce the risk of blocking the kitchen and still have enough space to work. If you like, I can also provide you with a step-by-step guide on how I proceed in such a situation.
