Hello everyone! I am currently planning to build kitchen and storage cabinets using the Ikea Metod system and want to equip them with soft-close hinges as well as adjustable, variable shelves. My question is: What is the best way to assemble these cabinets to ensure the soft-close function works properly and the shelves remain stable and easy to adjust? Do you have any proven techniques or tips for the assembly process, for example regarding screws, drilling, hinge alignment, or other potential pitfalls? I am especially interested in whether additional components are needed to optimize the adjustability of the shelves and how the soft-close mechanism should be installed. I would greatly appreciate a detailed step-by-step explanation!

Thank you for your helpful contributions! In summary, I now understand that I should first assemble and align the cabinet carcass precisely, install the doors, and adjust them carefully using the three screws. I will install the soft-close dampers afterwards to avoid damaging them. I will mount the adjustable shelves using the supplied shelf supports into the corresponding pre-drilled holes, ideally inserting the supports at a slight angle to increase stability.

I am now getting started and will keep you updated if any unexpected issues arise.
