Hello everyone, I am currently working on a project to assemble several IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets and install built-in appliances like an oven and dishwasher. I am familiar with the standard instructions, but since I am unclear about the exact order of the assembly steps and how to handle the specific brackets and panels, I wanted to ask: How do I properly assemble IKEA Metod cabinets with built-in appliances to ensure the appliances are securely and precisely installed, the cabinet doors fit well, and the kitchen units are stable and visually appealing? I look forward to constructive advice, especially regarding the removal of support profiles, aligning the appliances, and any potential pitfalls during assembly.

I recommend assembling the cabinet completely first, then installing the appliances. Always use the supplied mounting brackets for the appliances. Make sure the base is stable and level. Finally, adjust the doors using the screws on the hinges.

Hey Colby, really great that you’re taking on this project! 🙂 Make sure to carefully check all the parts before you start. The Metod series is actually very well designed, and with a bit of patience you can definitely manage it! My advice: take your time to align the units properly—being patient really pays off! Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Regarding the question of how to properly assemble IKEA Metod cabinets with integrated appliances: In general, the cabinet should be fully and securely assembled and leveled before installing the electrical appliances. The appliances are fixed to the sides of the cabinet carcass using special mounting brackets supplied by IKEA. It is important that the appliances are laterally stabilized by the baseboard and the side panels to prevent movement during operation. To align the doors, the decoupling elements on the hinges should be used. A common mistake is mixing up the screws, which have different functions for door adjustment. It is also recommended to level and secure the cabinet before mounting it to the wall, as this increases stability and makes later adjustments easier.

Thank you for the feedback so far! @Lorukeo: Could you explain in more detail how you align the cabinet against the wall? Are there specific methods or tools you use to prevent wobbling and ensure the perfect fit of the appliances? Also, I’m interested if anyone has experience with the IKEA-specific inserts for the dishwasher, especially regarding the fastening and matching of the front panel to the cabinet doors.

For aligning the Metod cabinets, I recommend using a spirit level on different planes – floor, back panel, and front. It is important to finely adjust the cabinet leveling feet and then securely fasten the cabinets to the wall, ideally with a suitable plug and screw set that matches the wall material. Regarding the front panels on the dishwasher: the IKEA mounting system allows for slight tolerances, but patience is required during installation because the fronts often need some trimming to align flush with adjacent fronts. Precise adjustment of the hinges and using the so-called overlap caps on the sides helps to close small gaps.
