Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble an Ikea Hemnes furniture piece, mainly the wardrobe and the chest of drawers. My goal is to make the assembly process as quick and efficient as possible without compromising the quality of the final result. I would like to know if you have any tips or tricks for saving time during assembly. In particular, I am interested in points such as:
- Preparation before assembly (tools, sorting parts, etc.)
- The order of the work steps
- How to handle the often quite extensive assembly instructions
- Practical advice for putting the individual modules together
Are there any special techniques that might make the assembly easier or faster? I would really appreciate any experiences you can share, especially if you have assembled similar pieces or furniture in a short time. Thanks in advance!

I believe the key to a quick assembly is not just to read the instructions, but to understand them – this saves a lot of time when screwing parts together later on. A little tip: if you play some music or a podcast in the background, it keeps the mood good, and the assembly almost happens by itself 😉
Also, it really helps to do it with two people if possible. One person holds, the other screws – teamwork is the boost for DIY projects! 💪

One holds, the other screws – teamwork is the turbo for Ikea projects! 💪Sure, that sounds nice, but honestly: does it really make that much of a difference? I’d argue that anyone who really studies the parts and the instructions can save a lot of time even when working alone. Especially this “just quickly put it together” mindset often leads to mistakes that cause double the work later.
I’d rather recommend carefully planning each building phase in advance and marking critical connection points beforehand. That not only speeds things up but also prevents avoidable setbacks. So, teamwork is great and all, but in my opinion, planning beats teamwork when it comes to efficient assembly.
