Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets in my apartment. The problem is that the kitchen floor is not completely even – there are slight irregularities spread across the room, both lengthwise and widthwise. My question is: What is the best way to align the Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets on uneven floors so that they stand stable and the fronts are aligned without unsightly gaps or misalignments? Are there specific techniques, tools, or adjustable components on the cabinets that I can use? It would also be helpful to know how to handle really significant floor unevenness. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Adjust the feet of each cabinet so that every cabinet stands firmly and, in particular, the top edges at the joints are as flush as possible.Aligning the top edges flush sounds really tricky when the floor is uneven. Will the fronts actually be noticeably affected if I just make the cabinet carcasses as stable as possible without getting everything perfectly level? Or can adjustable front fittings compensate for these inaccuracies later on?
I want to avoid the fronts looking visually crooked or warped because the carcasses aren’t precisely aligned with each other.
The front fittings on Ikea Metod cabinets can indeed be adjusted by a few millimeters—mainly in depth, the opening/closing movement, and slightly in height. This means small inaccuracies can be compensated for, but if there are significant misalignments between the cabinet boxes, the effect is limited.
Therefore, focus primarily on leveling the cabinet boxes using the adjustable feet and, if necessary, wooden shims. The better the base structure is aligned, the fewer problems you will have later with front gaps or misalignments.
It is also advisable to temporarily secure the cabinet boxes with cardboard or clamps before installing the fronts to simulate the spacing between the modules. This way, you can identify any gaps or misalignments early and correct them before mounting the fronts.
