Hello everyone, I recently assembled an Ikea Besta sideboard and now face the problem that the doors don’t stay properly aligned after a short time and tend to wobble. The hinges are adjustable, but I specifically want to know: How can the doors of Ikea Besta furniture be best adjusted to remain straight and stable over time? It’s important for me to have instructions that cover the adjustment options of the Ikea fittings, common mistakes when setting them, and any tricks to ensure a long-lasting result. Do you have tips on how to do this so the doors don’t sag or warp again? Which screws should be adjusted in what way, and what should be particularly watched for during the adjustment? Thanks in advance for your help!

Could you explain that in a bit more detail? The sequence makes sense to me, but how exactly do you set the depth correctly?Sure: You adjust the depth using the screw that moves the hinge closer to or further away from the cabinet side. This is usually the screw at the front end of the hinge. If the doors rattle, it’s often because they’re not fully seated against the cabinet.
The trick is to turn the screw only slightly and check repeatedly whether the gap closes without making the door too tight. This way, the door sits flush and stable without sticking.

Sometimes the drill holes or the material are not perfectly even. In such cases, it helps to slightly loosen the hinges, reposition the doors, and then tighten the screws evenly and carefully.
If there is significant wobbling, you can also use small washers to better align the hinges. Although this is an unofficial trick, it can be very effective at times.

What I always do with my Besta doors: after adjusting them, I keep the doors closed for a few hours to allow the materials and hinges to settle. Then I check them again and readjust if necessary.
Especially for frequently used furniture, it's important to keep annual readjustment in mind to ensure everything continues to operate smoothly.

It is important to carefully examine the three adjustment options as sonplo has already described. Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips so far. To summarize, I will try the following:
- Mount the doors loosely and position them roughly
- First adjust the height by setting the corresponding screws on the cabinet carcass
- Then align the doors sideways using the screw on the hinge
- Finally, perform the depth adjustment to press the doors cleanly against the cabinet carcass
- After adjusting, tighten all screws securely
- Keep the doors closed for several hours and readjust if necessary
It really helps to hear about your experiences!
