Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the challenge of fitting my Ikea Pax wardrobe into a very tight space. The room is only about 2.50 meters (8 feet 2 inches) wide, has a sloped ceiling that starts to drop sharply on one side at about 1.80 meters (5 feet 11 inches) height, and offers limited wall space for placement.

My question is: How can the Ikea Pax be positioned and configured in such a constrained room with a sloped ceiling to maximize storage space without significantly restricting movement flow in the room? I am especially interested in advice regarding doors (sliding doors versus hinged doors), possible corner solutions, and the installation of interior components.

I look forward to constructive suggestions tailored to tight spatial conditions!

In such tight spaces, always choose sliding doors, as they save space in front of the wardrobe. Corner solutions or Pax units with half-height elements can be complemented with drawers at the bottom. For sloped ceilings, it’s best to use customized carcasses or solutions with open areas at the top.

To address your question in detail: In tight spaces with a sloped ceiling, it is essential to carefully plan the different Pax components.

1. First, measure the room precisely, including the height at various points due to the slope.

2. Preferably use sliding doors, as they do not block the floor space in front of the closet.

3. Ikea offers special corner solutions for Pax, which you can combine with half-height or narrow wardrobes to make the best use of the area.

4. Under sloped ceilings, custom-made or cut-to-fit tops often work well—these can be used with open shelves or clothing rods so the upper space is not wasted.

5. Plan internal organization systems such as baskets, drawers, and shelves to structure the small space efficiently and provide ample storage.

Have you already used the IKEA planner or do you have exact measurements of the installation area? That way, more specific advice can be given.

That's exactly what I wanted to ask! If you can give the room a bit of structure, dive into the IKEA planner—it’s really fun to use!

Sliding doors are a must when space is tight, and try experimenting with different height and width options—you’ll be surprised how much fits when everything lines up!

Very important: don’t get discouraged, there are always solutions, and the Pax system is really flexible! Sometimes it helps to position the wardrobe slightly at an angle to make access easier. Good luck, I’m looking forward to hearing what you try out!
