Hello everyone,

I recently purchased several IKEA Hemnes pieces, mainly dressers and nightstands, and I’m now facing the challenge of transporting them safely and as easily as possible. Since the furniture is quite solid and somewhat bulky, I’m wondering how to make the transport easier to save physical effort and avoid damage.

I’m not only thinking about moving them into a car or van but also about how to make carrying and especially loading them onto a vehicle less difficult. Do you have any tips or experience on the best way to disassemble the furniture or perhaps special tools that can help?

I look forward to your advice and practical suggestions on how to transport IKEA Hemnes furniture more easily—maybe even some tricks that aren’t widely known!

A systematic approach is very helpful:

- First, remove all movable parts (drawers, doors).
- Then detach individual large panels (back panels, side panels) from the main frame.
- These separate parts are usually lighter and less bulky.
- When loading, make sure to position the panels upright and stack them carefully in the vehicle to maximize space and prevent damage.

It also helps to use ratchet straps and blankets to minimize shifting during transport. This method has worked reliably for me for years.

There are special furniture sliders that you can place under large pieces of furniture. Combined with carrying straps, this is the best way to move bulky Hemnes furniture without much effort.

Exactly, that’s a great tip!

I would like to add: A calm and organized method saves time and stress – it’s best to take the time before moving to disassemble the furniture piece by piece and pack everything sensibly.

If you have Hemnes stained furniture, make sure no moisture gets in that could damage the wood.
