Hello everyone, I have a somewhat specific question: I own an Ikea Hemnes sideboard with several drawers that unfortunately close quite loudly. I would like to add damping to the drawers afterward without taking the entire piece of furniture apart or changing its appearance. Are there any proven methods or products to make the drawers close gently and quietly? I am particularly interested in experiences with installing dampers or soft-close mechanisms on the existing Hemnes drawers, as I don’t have access to original replacement parts from Ikea. I would appreciate any tips for suitable damping solutions that can be implemented by DIY enthusiasts without requiring special tools.

Soft-close units with spring mechanisms can be installed by mounting them in pairs on the inside of the drawer and the cabinet side.I can only confirm that. It’s important to measure carefully beforehand and choose the correct length of the mechanism. I was also initially concerned about the stability, but the modifications have held up without any issues and represent a clear improvement.

Adding dampening truly brings a new level of peace of mind – at least when it comes to furniture.
