Hello everyone, I am planning to equip my Ikea Hemnes wardrobe with integrated LED lighting to enhance its appearance and provide more light inside. The challenge is to find a solution that fits well within the furniture, is as discreet as possible, and does not require major structural modifications. Has anyone had experience with upgrading Hemnes furniture with LED lighting? Which types of products (light strips, spotlights, LED tape) work best? What should I consider when connecting the power supply? I would appreciate detailed advice, including tips on installation, power supply, and maintenance!

What would you recommend regarding the power supply: wardrobe switch directly on 230V or rather convert to 12V? Are there any risks for the furniture or the lighting when converting to 230V? I strongly recommend 12V solutions. Using 230V inside furniture is riskier due to fire hazards and stricter regulations. Additionally, 12V LEDs are often easier to install and safer. The transformer can be installed outside the furniture piece. For the switch, there are small 12V push buttons or motion sensors that work well.
Great topic! I recently equipped my Hemnes with LED strips and am impressed by how much atmosphere it creates! What I especially like is that I can adjust the brightness with a dimmer, making it very flexible. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something powerful!
An important note: When purchasing LED strips, make sure they have good color rendering (CRI above 80) and check the maximum load capacity of the power supply. The length of the LED strips must not exceed the maximum amperage of the power supply. For even light distribution, the strips should be installed close together and not hidden behind furniture edges.
LED lighting in the HEMNES is truly a game changer! I chose the combination of LED strips and a battery pack because I don’t have a power outlet nearby. Be careful with cheap products from China, as the quality varies greatly. I recommend branded products, even if they cost a bit more. It’s worth it!

Regarding LED lighting in HEMNES, I strongly recommend using warm white LEDs to avoid making the natural wood look appear cold. That's a good tip, thanks! What color temperature would be optimal? I've read about 2700K to 3000K – what do you prefer for furniture with a light wood finish like the HEMNES?
