Hello everyone, I am planning to furnish my small apartment with IKEA Brimnes furniture but am facing the challenge of making the best use of the available space. Therefore, my specific question is: How can IKEA Brimnes furniture be optimally used in a small area to both maximize storage and create functional living spaces? I am especially interested in tips on combining different Brimnes pieces, smart use of the drawers, and how to adapt the design for multifunctional purposes without making the space feel cluttered. What experiences have you had, and what additions or modifications would you recommend? Thank you in advance for your detailed suggestions!

A pragmatic approach: The Brimnes bed with tall drawers is ideal when there is limited space for a separate wardrobe. Combined with the lower dressers beside it, the room can be efficiently layered. It is important to organize the drawers systematically: heavier items at the bottom, lighter and frequently used clothes on top. This creates quick accessibility. For special corners, hooks or small wall shelves from the series, which are often overlooked, can be helpful.

I think the fascination with Brimnes is overrated.

I have to disagree! Especially because Brimnes offers many drawers and storage options, in my opinion it is ideal for small spaces. It's a real storage miracle! 😊 Many pieces of furniture don’t provide that much storage in such a small footprint. Of course, good style is a matter of taste, but you can always brighten things up with colors and accessories. Just stay creative!

Brimnes works well in small spaces, especially when you consistently use the area under the bed and arrange the furniture compactly. Avoid large free-standing wardrobes; instead, combine dressers with shelving units.

For small rooms, I recommend beds with built-in drawers, low dressers wherever possible, and open shelves to create a lighter visual impression. Brimnes meets these criteria well.

Integrating organization systems (such as fabric dividers or plastic boxes) into drawers improves clarity and prevents mess.

This tip is invaluable! 😊 Since I organized my Brimnes drawers with inserts like these, I can find everything immediately and avoid the usual clutter.

To address your comment: multifunctionality can be achieved, for example, by using the Brimnes bed with built-in storage combined with a wall-mounted shelf above it. This creates a small reading or working nook right next to the bed. This way, the space can be used much more efficiently. Another option is pull-out drawers that can serve as seating or as a surface for placing items – this allows furniture pieces to serve dual purposes and prevents the room from feeling overcrowded.
