I have a specific question about room layout using Ikea Brimnes furniture: How can this furniture series be best arranged in small rooms to make efficient use of limited space without making the room feel too crowded or overwhelming? I am particularly interested in combining different pieces such as the BRIMNES bed, shelves, and wardrobes in rooms that might only be 10 to 12 square meters (108 to 130 square feet) in size. I’m looking for tips on arrangement and possible tricks to place the furniture so that it remains functional while still allowing enough free movement. Do you have experience on how to best handle the typical dimensions and shapes of the BRIMNES series? I’m especially interested in solutions that also take lighting conditions and window placement into account, as these often limit the room’s flexibility.

Should the bed be placed completely against a wall, and if so, which one? Or would that affect the perception of the room? Placing the bed fully against a wall is often the best solution in small rooms! This way, you gain valuable space in the center. Especially in a room around 3 x 4 meters (10 x 13 feet), I would position the bed along the shorter wall and keep the rest of the room open. This creates a feeling of openness and reduces the sense of being cramped.
And of course, if you place the wardrobe intelligently along another longer wall, you’ll have more room to move around and a more ‘flowing’ space.
With this kind of layout, you can really make even very small rooms stylish and functional – good luck!
