Su-moHello everyone, I am planning to use some IKEA Platsa furniture in my apartment, but I want to make the most of the available space. The challenge is that I have relatively small rooms and still want to remain flexible—so not just placing individual cabinets rigidly, but exploring modular options to optimize storage.
Does anyone have good experience with Platsa and can offer tips on the best ways to combine the individual modules to efficiently use small areas? I am especially interested in combinations for narrow, tall shelves or corner solutions, as well as suggestions that help with occasional rearranging.
Looking forward to your experiences and ideas!

Hey, I think PLATSA is really flexible, almost like a Lego system – perfect for small apartments! 😄
My tip: Take advantage of the option to arrange the modules not only in a straight line but also stacked wide side-by-side and vertically. This way, you can create narrow, tall cabinets as room dividers while gaining plenty of storage space. And if you want, grab doors for individual compartments – it instantly looks tidier!
Honestly, with a bit of creativity, experimenting is really fun!

PLATSA is especially well-suited for space-saving solutions in small apartments due to its modular design.
- Corner modules with connecting brackets ensure efficient use of otherwise unused spaces.
- It is recommended to choose tall, narrow shelves to make the best use of vertical space.
- The ability to flexibly combine different modules allows for adaptation to specific needs—such as shelving with drawers or open compartments.
Additionally, the various separately available internal organizers and shelves help to create order and optimize storage space.

Why not be bold and use PLATSA, for example, as a low-level sideboard in front of a window? This way, you gain storage space without blocking walkways and still make use of the area below the windowsill!
Also: who says storage always has to be against walls? Freestanding shelves offer more flexibility in options.
One often overlooked aspect is the optimal use of combinations of open and closed compartments.
Open shelves help enhance the visual spaciousness, as they appear lighter and do not constrain the sense of space. Closed units, on the other hand, provide storage for clutter.
It is also advisable to plan for flexible interior fittings such as baskets or drawers that can be moved or swapped. This increases adaptability and thus improves the efficiency of use.
