Hello everyone, I am currently thinking about how to use my Ikea PAX system as efficiently as possible for storing bed linens. Since the wardrobes are very flexible, I am wondering how to best organize the storage space—such as with shelves, drawers, or additional inserts. My main goal is to keep the bed linens clean, wrinkle-free, and well organized. Are there any specific tips on how to arrange the PAX modules to ensure easy access while keeping everything neatly stored? So far, I have only used simple shelves, but I feel there is more potential. I would appreciate it if you could share your ideas or experiences, including concrete examples or practical solutions.

I recommend using drawers and shallow shelves especially for bed linen. This prevents items from slipping and keeps everything organized. Folded sets in drawers are easier to sort, and you can quickly find what you need.

Hello Sarama, I’m familiar with your concern. PAX is indeed very flexible, so it’s worthwhile to combine different storage methods. For example: - At the bottom, drawers for duvet covers and pillowcases allow you to keep sets together. - Middle sections with shelves for sheets that you can lay flat on top of each other. - If the wardrobe is tall, consider using hanging inserts for smaller textiles like fitted sheets, which you might otherwise misplace. It’s important to organize your bedding by category and frequency of use. To avoid wrinkles, textiles stay best when they are not packed too tightly. If space permits, light air circulation inside the PAX helps keep them fresh. How large is your PAX exactly? That also plays a role in the planning.

Hello Sarama, since you aim for optimal organization, I recommend planning the PAX wardrobe with custom interior fittings. Here are a few detailed tips:

- Shelves: Use adjustable-height shelves so you can set the height exactly to fit your bedding. Flat sheets need more space, while duvet covers can be stacked more compactly.
- Drawer inserts: Flat drawers with separate inserts are ideal for organizing bedding by sets (pillowcases, covers, sheets). Make sure the drawers have smooth sliding mechanisms to make access easier.
- Hangers: If you have extra space, you can also use special hanging slat systems inside the PAX to hang fitted sheets wrinkle-free.
- Material protection: Since bedding often comes into direct contact with skin, it’s advisable to use breathable fabric boxes or linen bags inside the wardrobe – this keeps everything fresh and dust-free.
- Organization: Label the shelves or drawers with tags or color codes for a clear overview.

It’s also important to know how much bedding you want to store, the number of bedding sets (1–2 or many more), and whether the PAX is placed in a relatively dry or humid room. This influences the choice of materials and ventilation.

One more tip: be sure to allow some air space between the individual sets. If things are too tightly packed, creases form and the fabric “suffers.” I also equipped my PAX with soft-close drawer slides – a small detail that adds a lot of comfort over time.

I’d be interested to know the dimensions of your PAX and how you have set it up so far.
