Hello everyone, I have a question about retrofitting soft-close dampers on IKEA Metod drawers. I already have several Metod base cabinets with drawers that currently don’t have any damping. Since I would like to make the drawer closing quieter and smoother, I’m looking for a way to retrofit the existing drawer slides with dampers, ideally without having to replace the entire drawer slide. Are there proven damping solutions that are easy to install? Which products or methods would you recommend to significantly improve the closing experience? I’m especially interested in practical implementation, compatible damper models, and whether there are any technical requirements (e.g., specific drawer slide types, installation effort, tools needed). Thanks in advance for your help!

I briefly removed the drawers for installation, which makes the process much easier. Attaching the dampers in particular is much cleaner that way.
A simple screwdriver is enough, no special screws are needed – I used the original screws provided with my dampers.
If the holes don’t line up perfectly, you can use a small drill bit or a power drill to help, but this is usually not necessary with Metod. Important: The dampers should be mounted straight; otherwise, they won’t hold properly.
Go for it, it’s easier than you think!

I recommend, for example, the BlumOTION clip-on dampers, specifically the model 973A1000

This recommendation is very reliable.
Additionally, anyone ordering these dampers should ensure that the appropriate mounting accessories for IKEA Metod drawers are included, as these can differ slightly from standard furniture fittings.
An alternative option is the Hettich Sensys dampers, which work similarly but usually fit better with Hettich drawer slides.
Finally, it is important to perform a temporary test run after installation to avoid later adjustments and save extra effort.
