Hello,

Almost two years ago, we decided to stop using wallpaper on our walls and only apply textured plaster. However, we have now noticed that retro colors and wallpaper are becoming popular again, which frustrates us and makes us regret our decision. So, what can we do to make our walls suitable for wallpaper again? How can we get them smooth once more?

Hello,
I’m afraid you have no other choice but to remove the plaster again. Sanding it will probably take just as long and definitely won’t create less mess. Knocking it off produces less dust.

I also believe that you should almost knock it down, because sanding won’t get you very far and, besides, that would require much more effort.

Hello,
it’s pointless to just smooth over the plaster again. If it is to be done properly, the material needs to be removed. I hope the wall surface isn’t too large, because otherwise it will be a huge amount of work, which I wouldn’t envy you.

That probably depends on how rough the scratch coat is, because if it’s not very grainy, you can only sand it down. It is enough if the plaster is smooth, as the wallpaper will look very good on it. A coat of paint also only looks good if the surface is smooth.

Hi,
see if there is a product that can soften the material. Then you could scrape it off. I once saw in a brochure how this is done, but unfortunately I can’t remember the name.
