Hello everyone, I recently purchased an IKEA Malm drawer chest and noticed that the drawers don’t adjust quite properly. Specifically, some drawers are difficult to open and close, while others are slightly misaligned in the tracks, making closing them harder. I want to adjust the drawers so they operate smoothly, evenly, and without issues. Does anyone have experience with the mechanical adjustment of these Malm drawers? Is there a specific technique or trick to correctly calibrate the drawer slides or the drawers themselves? I would appreciate a detailed guide or tips, ideally with advice on aligning the drawers and ensuring smooth operation.

Dry lubricants like silicone spray or special furniture oil can help. Yes, silicone, not regular oil. Just a light application is often enough.
I’m glad to hear you’ve made progress. Finding and adjusting the clips really makes a difference. I completely understand being concerned about whether the settings will hold. Just keep checking from time to time, and you’ll soon recognize when a readjustment is necessary. This isn’t a one-time process but rather ongoing maintenance 🙂

This is not a one-time process, but maintenance Exactly. Furniture with drawers requires occasional maintenance with frequent use. A preventive check every few months helps avoid bigger problems.
