Hello everyone,

I just installed a few IKEA Metod kitchen cabinet doors, and I noticed that one of the doors is not flush and hangs slightly crooked. I would like to know how to properly adjust the Metod cabinet doors to fix this issue—specifically, how and in which direction to turn the adjustment screws on the hinges to accurately align the height, depth, and width of the doors. Are there any special steps or tips I should follow to avoid damaging the hinges? Thanks for your help!

The Metod hinges usually have three adjustment options: height, depth, and lateral position.

- For height: turn the screws on the back of the hinge.
- For depth: adjust the screw at the front of the hinge.
- For width (lateral adjustment): turn the screw on the side.

Be sure to make only small adjustments and check the door regularly after each turn.

That’s exactly what I did with my Metod kitchen – it works great! 😄 It’s best to be patient, make small adjustments, and test repeatedly. Don’t get discouraged if it’s not perfect the first time! The mechanism is really sturdy, and the doors can be adjusted easily. Good luck, you’ve got this!

Exactly, you’ve already pinpointed the key issue! To add to that, the two front screws on the hinge control lateral and depth adjustments: to move the door sideways, turn the middle screw, and to adjust depth, turn the screw at the front of the hinge. The screw at the back or top is used for height adjustment. A little tip from me: when adjusting, it helps to hold the door lightly so the pressure is better distributed and nothing gets misaligned. Easy, like a little dance with the door! 😉
