Hello everyone,
I am facing the challenge of dismantling my Ikea Pax wardrobe as quickly and easily as possible. Some of the modules are quite large and heavy, and I especially want to avoid wasting time or damaging parts during disassembly. I am particularly interested in whether anyone knows proven methods for carefully but efficiently removing individual components such as shelves, doors, and side panels.
Are there any practical tips for disconnecting the fasteners or recommended sequences that have proven effective in practice? For example, special tools or specific settings on a screwdriver or cordless drill that make the job easier?
I would appreciate any helpful and practical advice!

The order is actually crucial for efficient disassembly: first remove the doors, then the floors, followed by the back panels, and finally the side panels.I agree. One more safety tip: if the wardrobe is very large and heavy, you should definitely work with at least two people. This helps prevent tipping or damage when lifting the side panels or floors.
Regarding the back panel: the material is usually hard cardboard, relatively thin – not load-bearing, but stabilizing. Some models have back panels fixed with nails, which must be removed carefully to avoid splinters. When in doubt, wear protective clothing.
If you plan to reassemble the wardrobe elsewhere, it is advisable to protect each board edge with masking tape to prevent fraying. Also, collect screws and small parts in labeled containers.
That sounds like an exciting project! I can only say: it’s really enjoyable when you follow the right sequence and work together with another person. Don’t forget to take breaks in between – a Pax wardrobe needs to be carefully disassembled, but afterwards you’ll feel even better! And hey, if you’re careful, the wardrobe will almost look like new afterwards! 🙂
