ᐅ How can I protect and landscape my 4x4 meter wooden deck from the sun?

I
i_b_n_a_nI really like my new wooden deck, especially because of the sunlight exposure in the evenings when the sun stays out longer. However, since it is located right next to the fence (street) and the parking space, I do feel a bit too exposed sitting there.
Also, in the summer there is often too much sun, while in spring and autumn I imagine that with some protection, I could use the area for longer periods.
Since I also want to transform part of the lawn into a more natural, wild garden, I am looking for good ideas to make the space more comfortable—plant suggestions would be especially welcome, as I am a complete beginner in this area.
I would like to build the additions myself (out of wood?), as I enjoy that kind of work. This project is planned for next spring anyway, as other tasks are more important at the moment.
At the front corner where the sun umbrella is currently placed, or about 1 meter (3 feet) towards the house (in the direction of the photographer), I will soon plant a 2 to 2.5 meter (6.5 to 8 feet) tall catalpa tree because it provides nice shade...

I will take a better photo this afternoon and try to draw it to scale.
But here are already some details:
The photo was taken from the house’s terrace door, so the photographer’s back is towards the house.
The house is oriented exactly north/south. The photo was taken looking directly south.
The deck currently extends right up to the fence by the street (but I can remove individual deck boards if needed).
To the right, there is about 30cm (12 inches) to the fence. I was planning anyway to at least temporarily remove the first board by the fence soon to install an electrical outlet.

But the idea of creating a terrace roof covering there, naturally covered with greenery from below, is currently the only constant in the plan 😉. A neighboring building has an ornamental vine that turns spectacularly red in autumn before shedding its leaves. That has always been quite amazing.
But with vines, of course, you need to be a bit careful.

You can definitely find many examples for the wooden framework.
Regarding planting:
A popular plant for greening is, for example, wisteria. Climbing roses are also popular, as well as Virginia creeper, to name my favorites for beginners. I have also planted common clematis (Clematis vitalba) and have had good experience with it. However, it is somewhat more understated than the others.
