Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the challenge of aligning my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets as precisely as possible on a slightly uneven floor. The unevenness is not very significant, but enough to make leveling the cabinets more difficult. My question is: What methods or tools would you recommend to ensure the Metod cabinets stand straight and level, even if the floor is not completely flat? Are there any special adjustable feet, shims, or other tricks that allow for millimeter-precise adjustment of the cabinets?

I want to avoid any issues later on, such as doors not closing properly or the cabinets wobbling due to misalignment. I appreciate any tips!

It is best to use the original IKEA adjustable feet, as they are height-adjustable and relatively sturdy.
You can also place small leveling wedges made of wood or plastic under the feet.
Check the alignment with a spirit level to ensure everything is standing straight.

That is correct. For leveling Metod cabinets on uneven floors, I recommend the following systematic approach:

- First, install the original adjustable feet. They allow a height adjustment of about 80 mm (3 inches).
- Next, use a precise spirit level or a laser level to measure the floor section where the cabinets will stand.
- For larger unevenness, small leveling wedges made of plastic or wood can be used to create a stable base.
- It is important to firmly screw the cabinets together to form a single unit. This prevents them from shifting against each other.
- Finally, adjust the doors and drawers, as the frames may slightly warp due to the height adjustment.

This method ensures precise leveling and helps prevent functional issues over time.

First, it is important to clarify what exactly is meant by "precisely fitting." Does this only refer to leveling the cabinets horizontally, or should the cabinets also be installed flush with the wall? Because having a level floor alone is not the only factor that affects the quality of the installation.

Another point to consider is long-term stability. Shims or wedges can quickly compensate for small unevenness but carry the risk that the cabinets may tilt or shift over time, especially if the floor varies greatly, such as with wooden floorboards.

Therefore, my recommendation is: if the floor is very uneven, it may be advisable to install a stable baseboard that has been precisely leveled beforehand. The cabinets can then be mounted on this baseboard. This method provides a continuous, stable surface and prevents point loads.

It is also important to tightly secure the connections between the cabinets and to fix the adjustable legs with appropriate anchors or mounting adhesives to ensure lasting stability.
