Hello everyone, I’m planning to use my Ikea Besta cabinets as a crafting station and would like to ask for concrete tips on how to best organize it. My idea is to use different compartments and drawers systematically for tools, craft materials, adhesives, paints, and papers to prepare and carry out my crafting work as efficiently and clearly as possible. I’m especially interested in which interior dividers make sense, whether it’s better to use boxes or separators, and how to best design the workspace on top, for example if you mount a countertop on the Besta. Does anyone have practical experience or recommendations? I look forward to your suggestions!

Mobility is not so important; the station will remain in a fixed location. That makes things easier. A sturdy, coated worktop on the Besta is then advisable. For small items, I recommend drawer inserts with adjustable compartments, as they provide flexibility for pens, brushes, and glue. A drawer for papers and larger cardboard formats can be lined with shallow boxes. Additionally, cable grommets and power strips can be used to ensure a tidy power setup.

I want the work surface to be as large and well-organized as possible. In this case, it would make sense to consider suitable extension elements alongside the standard Besta units, such as wider or taller models, to increase the work surface. Especially if you work a lot with large sheets of paper, having enough space is crucial. An additional countertop connected over several Besta cabinets also increases usable space. Make sure to plan sufficient height to set up quick-access shelves above the work surface so the table does not get cluttered.
