Hello everyone, I am planning to design our Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets to be as child-friendly as possible. Specifically, I am looking for ways to make the cabinets safer for young children who are still exploring a lot and like to pull on doors and drawers. Are there any special measures or accessories to childproof Metod cabinets without losing too much convenience for adults? I am also interested to know if anyone has experience with particular materials or special fittings that make the cabinets more durable or more accessible for children, without compromising functionality. Thanks for all tips and experiences!

You can equip drawers with stoppers that prevent them from being pulled out too far

This is a very important point, as curious children can easily get hurt if drawers suddenly slam shut or push closed. I would also recommend setting personal boundaries and guiding the children practically with the cabinets—showing them what is allowed and what is not. Safety devices are great, but without some education and clear rules, things will end up chaotic. How long have your children been in the exploratory phase?
