Hello everyone!

I recently bought some IKEA Besta furniture to redesign my living room. The problem is that the floor in the room is quite uneven. Due to small irregularities, the furniture wobbles slightly or doesn’t stand stable, which is obviously not ideal.

My question is: What is the best way to level and stabilize IKEA Besta furniture on an uneven floor? Are there any special techniques, products, or tips you would recommend to securely place the furniture as straight as possible on such floors without wobbling or shifting?

I look forward to your experiences and advice!

For additional information:

The IKEA Besta units come standard with plastic feet that are not height-adjustable.

The following approach has proven effective:
- Use adjustable furniture feet with threaded stems, available from hardware stores. These can be installed instead of the original feet.
- Thoroughly check the level with a spirit level before making adjustments.
- For minor unevenness, felt pads or rubber strips can be placed underneath.
- Anti-slip mats can be used to prevent sliding.
- Securing the furniture to the wall with wall fixtures is important to ensure stability against tipping.

This combination provides a durable and safe setup on uneven floors.

Shims are a temporary fix but do not address the underlying problem and can become unstable or leave unsightly gaps over time.

I agree with this.

A technically sound solution often requires retrofitting adjustable furniture feet. These not only allow for precise leveling with the floor but also reduce mechanical stress on the furniture.

Additionally, furniture should be secured against tipping by attaching it to the wall.

For a long-lasting good result, floor leveling can be advisable, especially if unevenness exceeds 5 mm (0.2 inches).

I fully agree with the comments about adjustable furniture feet! 😊

What I usually do when placing IKEA furniture on uneven floors is:
- First, I use a small level app to check the most critical spots.
- Then, I put felt pads or small rubber pads of varying thickness under the shorter feet to find the right balance.
- If the floor is very uneven, I replace the feet with adjustable furniture feet. They are quite affordable and provide real stability.

Oh, and my furniture is always secured to the wall, which is very reassuring, especially if something wobbles.
