Hello everyone,

I am facing the challenge of securing an Ikea Pax wardrobe in my rental apartment without drilling holes in the wall, as the landlord does not allow it and drilled holes could cause problems later. The wardrobe is quite large and needs to be stable and tip-resistant because I have small children in the household.

Are there practical solutions or alternatives to safely and securely fasten a Pax wardrobe, perhaps using special clamping methods, adhesives, or other mechanical aids that do not leave permanent marks?

I would really appreciate any experiences or recommendations, as I am unsure whether pressure-mounted systems alone are sufficient or if there is a risk that the wardrobe could tip over.

Thank you in advance!

If the floor is uneven, it is best to place small wedges or felt pads under the cabinet. Clamp strips are usually flexible and can be cut to size. For a room height of 2.50 meters (8 feet 2 inches), you can find ready-made options that can be adjusted.

That sounds reasonable, thanks! Does anyone have experience with combining this with additional safety anchors on the wall that can be installed without drilling? I really want to be on the safe side, as the cabinet will be almost full of clothes and bags.

Are there any specific products that can be pressed reliably against the wall, without drilling, but still prevent tipping?

On the topic of tip-over protection without drilling:

Highly recommended are so-called "furniture wall brackets" with clamp or adhesive elements. However, these products have limited load capacity and should not be confused with traditional wall anchors that require drilling.

For heavy cabinets like Pax, a vertical tension system between the ceiling and the cabinet is the most stable solution. Additional brackets that are only glued to the wall often are not sufficient to completely prevent tipping.

A combination of:
- tension rods (top)
- shims or felt pads (bottom)
- and, if necessary, furniture velcro strips as extra security

provides an optimal safety level without drilling.

Please ensure all contact surfaces are clean and dry before installation.
