Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install lighting for my IKEA Metod kitchen and would like to do it myself. However, I am not entirely sure about the best way to connect and mount the lighting rail, especially regarding the wiring and installation inside the wall cabinets. Does anyone have specific tips for installing LED or light rails, which components I will need, and what electrical considerations I should keep in mind? Thanks in advance!
I installed the LEDs under my wall cabinets using the original clips from IKEA, and they hold really well and look very clean 😎. I also think it’s important to lay out the cables temporarily at first and then secure them gradually – this way you avoid a tangled mess of wires. When it comes to connecting everything, just follow the instructions step by step, there’s nothing to worry about!
Hi everyone! I really like the option to connect multiple tracks together with the Metod kitchen lighting. Make sure not to bend the connecting cables too much, as this can cause loose contacts. And if you’re using dimmable lamps, test beforehand whether the dimmer and the LEDs are compatible—this will save you from costly mistakes and annoying rework!

Regarding the connectors, caution is advised: IKEA provides special connectors for the LED strips that are not intended for independent cutting Thank you, that’s an important tip. I will use the original parts and avoid cutting any cables myself.
One more question about installation: What is the best way to attach the LED rails to the fronts without visible cables? Are there any professional tips or tricks?

How can LED strips be best attached to cabinet fronts without visible cables? For a concealed installation, I recommend mounting the LED strips directly under the edges of the wall cabinets, as cables are least visible there. You can secure the cables with small cable clips underneath or behind the cabinets.
There are also flexible flat cables available, for example from IKEA, which are easier to hide than thicker cables. It is important to bundle the cables neatly and route them inside the cabinets or along the kickboard so they do not interfere with daily use or stand out visually.
I just want to add quickly: If you’re lighting your Metod kitchen, don’t forget to leave enough sockets free! That’s something I didn’t think about at the beginning and had to improvise a bit later 🙈. So when planning, make sure to allocate space for the transformer and socket, and everything will be much less stressful 😊👍!
