Hello everyone, I am currently upgrading my Ikea Besta system with new doors and would like to add soft-closing features to make them close more quietly and gently. My specific question is: How can I equip Ikea Besta doors with soft closers, what options are available, and what should I particularly pay attention to regarding installation and material selection? It would be helpful if you could provide tips related to compatibility with the typical Besta hinges and the door material. Thanks in advance!

I would like to critically ask whether using just the typical soft-close adapters is really sufficient, or if it might be more sensible to use the original BLUM hinges with integrated damping right from the start.

That is a very valid point. In fact, original soft-close hinges are the cleanest solution, especially when it comes to durability and functionality.

Additionally, I wonder if the weight and thickness of the doors in BESTA reasonably allow for this.

The doors in the Besta system are typically light enough that standard BLUM hinges including soft-close function do not cause any issues. Heavier doors, for example solid wood, might require a stronger hinge solution, but this is rare with BESTA.

Your suggestion to use original hinges is also my recommendation if the effort is justifiable. However, for those who do not want to replace hinges, additional dampers can work quite well, especially in the budget range.
