Hello everyone, I am planning to furnish my office with IKEA Platsa furniture and want to customize it as much as possible to create a workspace that is not only functional but also visually appealing. I am especially interested in tips and tricks on how to creatively modify or enhance the Platsa units—such as through color design, additional built-ins, or technical adjustments. Does anyone have experience adapting or even expanding Platsa furniture in a practical and personalized way for an office, without it becoming too complicated or expensive? I look forward to your ideas and suggestions!

I completely understand the desire for individuality. Especially when you spend a lot of time in the office, you want to feel comfortable. My experience with Platsa in a home office was that initially, I thought I had to get everything perfect, but in the end, it was small details like a special handle, a self-adhesive pattern, or an integrated plant shelf that made the crucial difference.

You shouldn’t hesitate to design according to your own preferences, even if you’re not yet using all the technical possibilities. Flexibility is the big advantage here.

I recommend using the back panels creatively. You can paint them with chalkboard paint or magnetic paint. This way, shelves and the entire piece of furniture gain more functionality. Additionally, you can replace fittings to change the look.

That’s a great idea! Personally, I like furniture that doesn’t just serve its purpose rigidly but becomes interactive. However, not everyone wants to work on a board in the office – some prefer more subtle accents. Therefore, I think it’s important to plan the use of such paints thoughtfully and combine them with functional elements like LED light strips. This creates interesting yet uncluttered workspaces.

Exactly – durability is often an underestimated issue with DIY furniture. Platsa is generally sturdy in its construction, but for heavy use, reinforcing the edges and using threaded inserts during assembly is recommended.

Additionally, water-based finishes should be used not only for aesthetic reasons but also because they respond more flexibly to temperature changes, which helps protect the material.

I would like to know if you are using the office privately or for a small business, so I can offer more specific suggestions tailored to your needs.
