Hello everyone,

I want to convert my Ikea Besta cabinet into a vanity table and I’m looking for tips and experiences. Specifically, I’m interested in how to modify the BESTA components to achieve a comfortable working height, provide enough storage space for cosmetics, and combine a tabletop with a good mirror. The challenge is that the BESTA is originally designed as a lowboard, so its standard height is quite low for a table.

Maybe someone has already used or repurposed the BESTA series this way? I’m especially curious about ideas for legs or bases that can be attached to the BESTA to raise the height. Are there also recommendations for suitable mirror mounts or for a practical yet stylish design?

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Stability is important: make sure to firmly screw the legs in place. For storage, use interior drawers or boxes from the Ikea range.

Oh, and a tip for the tabletop: A glass top makes it look more elegant and is easy to clean at the same time!

Glass is definitely stylish, no doubt! Alternatively, a coated wood surface works well, depending on whether you prefer a cozy or clean look.

By the way, don’t forget the drawer layout! This way, you can quickly access everyday items while keeping everything organized 🧚‍♀️

Exactly! Nothing is worse than a wobbly dressing table – it only causes frustration when applying makeup. If you're not very handy, you can also use metal brackets or additional connecting profiles for extra stability.

And one more thing: don’t forget the lighting! A small LED spotlight above the mirror makes the beauty routine much more comfortable. There are battery-powered LED strips available if a power outlet is too far away 😉

About the mirror: wall mounting is best. For the table: legs about 70-75 cm (28-30 inches) high, tabletop 3-4 cm (1-1.5 inches) thick. Finished.
