Hello everyone, I have a Platsa module from Ikea with the matching cabinet doors, and I want to be able to close the doors as quietly and safely as possible, without them slamming or wearing out quickly. My main issues are the loud slamming of the doors and the feeling that they don’t latch cleanly or close completely.
Does anyone have tips or solutions on how to adjust or retrofit the doors so they close more gently and quietly? Are there any recommended dampers or special hinges that work well? Any experiences with installation options or settings would also be very helpful, as I want to do this myself but as professionally and sustainably as possible. Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice!

Here is a summary: For secure and quiet closing of Ikea Platsa doors, the following measures are recommended:
- Adjustment of the hinges for optimal alignment
- Retrofitting mechanical soft-close dampers, preferably on the hinges
- Use of self-adhesive rubber buffers on the door frames
- Optional addition of magnetic catches for a firm hold
If anyone has more detailed recommendations regarding soft-close dampers—how practical are options from brands like Hettich, Blum, or others in the context of PLATSA? Are there any limitations when it comes to installation?

If anyone has more detailed recommendations regarding soft-close dampers – how practical are options from Hettich, Blum, or other brands in the context of PLATSA?Blum and Hettich soft-close dampers are high-quality and durable, but Blum hinges are often specially designed. For PLATSA, adapters or specific models are usually needed to secure them properly.
Blum is better suited for custom complete series, while Hettich can be somewhat more flexible for retrofitting on standard hinges. I recommend carefully comparing the installation instructions of the dampers with the PLATSA dimensions.
Sometimes less is more. When all else fails, attach small rubber buffers at the contact points. They absorb vibrations and cost almost nothing. And yes, even if it doesn’t sound very precise, don’t forget to tighten the hex screws – that’s often where the first noises come from! You don’t want to slam the door like a torpedo.
Finally, a technical note: Doors should always be adjusted so that they do not create any tension in their resting position. The hinges are usually adjustable in three dimensions (depth, height, and lateral). When all components are properly aligned, soft-close dampers can work most effectively.
Misalignments not only cause loud noises but also reduce the lifespan of the dampers and hinges.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips! I will start with the hinge adjustment, then try out the soft-close dampers from Hettich, and to be safe, I will add a few silicone buffers. I will keep magnetic catches as an additional option, depending on how the overall result looks.
I will get back to you once I have some initial experience!
