Hello everyone, I bought the IKEA Brimnes bed and am currently a bit stuck with the assembly. My specific question is: what are the best ways to avoid common problems when putting together the Brimnes bed? I have already read several parts of the instructions, but some steps are not entirely clear, especially the assembly of the storage boxes and inserting the slatted bed bases. Are there any particular tips or tools that can help make the process faster and error-free? Thanks in advance for your advice!

When assembling IKEA furniture, always use the torque setting and start slowly. Once the screw is firmly seated in the wood, you can increase the force, but avoid full power. Alternatively, tighten with a screwdriver to maintain full control.

Yes, a cordless screwdriver with adjustable torque is great! 😎 Just use the lowest setting and work gently to avoid splintering. And if you’re uncertain, it’s better to check and adjust more often than to overtighten. Good luck, it’s going to be a great bed!

I do have one with adjustable torque settings, but I’m unsure about the risk of the wood splitting.

That is a very sensible caution. Especially with particleboard or veneered parts, you should start with a low setting. Personally, I proceed like this: begin with a cordless drill on a low torque setting, and once the screw bites, continue screwing by hand. This way, you avoid over-tightening and damaging the material.

Great to hear the tips are helpful! Remember to have fun while working 😉, because in the end, it’s about your new bed, so a bit of patience and care is definitely worth it. And when you’re done, feel free to share a brief review—I’d be really interested to hear how it went!
