Hello everyone, I recently assembled a Besta cabinet from IKEA, and now I need to adjust the drawers so they close properly and are aligned. My specific question is: How can I adjust the drawers on the IKEA Besta system? What adjustment options are available on the drawer slides or the cabinet frame to align the drawers horizontally and vertically? Are there special mechanisms, screws, or clips for this? I haven’t found any instructions on this and would appreciate a detailed guide or tips so I can fine-tune the drawers without having to take everything apart. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I know this well! The BESTA drawers are actually quite cleverly designed—you can usually adjust the fronts with small screws on the sides. The drawers themselves sit on sliding rails, which generally provide alignment in two ways:

- Vertical: Usually, you can move the front up or down slightly by turning a screw on the side of the drawer.
- Horizontal: Often, there is a small flap or mechanism next to the screw that allows left-right adjustment.

My tip: Check the inside of the drawer front for small adjustment knobs or screws, which sometimes have a Phillips head for a screwdriver. Good luck!

The BESTA drawers from IKEA are designed for adjustment, but not all in the same way. Typically, the height of the drawer front is adjusted using adjustable screws on the sides of the front panels, which are mounted on the drawer slides. For horizontal adjustment, there are two methods:

- Screw adjustment: On the left and right sides of the mounting brackets behind the front, there are usually Phillips screws that allow the front to be shifted sideways.
- Clip system: In some versions, the front can be removed and repositioned by releasing a clip system.

To make the adjustment, pull out the drawer, locate the adjustment screws on the metal mounts at the front, and slowly turn them until the front sits flush and straight. Use a Phillips screwdriver to operate the screws. A reliable procedure is:

- Pull out the drawer
- Loosen the screws, but do not remove them completely
- Carefully align the front
- Tighten the screws

Also, keep an eye on the drawer slides to ensure they are installed correctly, as improper installation can also cause misalignment.

That's true, there are small differences depending on the model! Some BESTA cabinets even have small plastic tabs that you can pull out or move – almost like a secret mechanism. 🙂

By the way, don’t forget: when you fully remove the drawer, make sure to notice how the runners snap into place – there are often thin metal hooks that should click audibly when reinserting. Otherwise, the drawer won’t slide smoothly!

The drawer adjustment mechanism in IKEA BESTA is technically quite simple, but it requires careful attention when making adjustments:

- The height of the drawer front can be adjusted using two screws on the sides.
- For horizontal adjustment, a sliding mechanism is sometimes used, where two clip points are released and the front is shifted sideways.

In IKEA’s assembly instructions, these details are usually found in the drawer assembly section. If this information is missing, it is worth removing the drawer and closely examining the connection points between the front panel and the drawer carcass. It is best to carefully try adjustments with a Phillips screwdriver without removing the screws.

Thanks for the previous tips! I have one more question: Are there any differences in adjustability when using the new Tipp-ON or PUSH-OPEN mechanisms for drawers? I have installed this touchless opening technology myself, but I am unsure if it affects the adjustment of the fronts. Or do the screws on the sides of the fronts still work exactly the same?
