Hello everyone, I have been experiencing an issue with my IKEA Brimnes shelves for some time: after a while of use, they start to sag, especially the middle shelves under load. I have already made sure not to overload them, but this does not seem to prevent the problem. Therefore, I am interested in possible ways to effectively avoid sagging in Brimnes shelves. Are there any recommended reinforcement methods or specific tips that could help? I look forward to your ideas and experiences, including any advice on materials or assembly techniques that might make a difference.

Sometimes an additional back panel reinforcement helps, as the back panel significantly increases stability. Exactly, often underestimated. Check if the back panel is properly and tightly installed; this greatly stabilizes the shelf against deformation.
I understand how frustrating it is when a shelf sags and everything feels less stable.
That helped me because it makes you more careful with daily storage and prevents placing too many heavy books in the middle. Also, my partner attached a narrow strip underneath, which really adds extra support. Sometimes small solutions are enough to keep your patience intact.

Great discussion so far!
I really like how many practical tips are coming together here. The issue of stability with affordable furniture is often underestimated. It’s important that no one feels overwhelmed – a shelf should be enjoyable to use, and if it starts to sag, simple reinforcements are often the solution. Thanks to everyone for the helpful insights!
