Hello everyone, I am currently planning to retrofit lighting for my IKEA Pax wardrobe, but I definitely want to avoid drilling holes or causing any damage. My question is: How can lighting be installed on a Pax wardrobe without drilling, while ensuring a secure hold and reliable power supply, and at the same time keeping the installation as neat as possible? Are there established solutions or products suitable for this, such as adhesive strips, magnets, or special brackets? I would also like to know the best way to hide cables when drilling holes is not an option. Thanks in advance for any helpful tips and experiences!

The easiest option is LED strips with 3M adhesive tape on the back. Simply stick them onto the inside surfaces, and they usually hold very well. For cables, you can use cable clips with adhesive backs – no drilling required.

Hello! That’s a good question that is important for many people. In my experience, it’s best to use a combination of self-adhesive LED strips and suitably cut cable ducts, which are also mounted with adhesive. It is important to thoroughly clean and degrease the surfaces before applying the adhesive to ensure everything holds firmly. You can then power the lights via an outlet inside the cabinet or use a battery. If you consider battery-powered lighting systems, the installation becomes even easier because no wiring is required.

Hello On_kla! In addition to the options you mentioned, there are also so-called "light bar clips" with a self-adhesive backing, which are specifically designed for installation without drilling. This is convenient if you want to remove the bars later. If you use cable channels, make sure to choose flexible and thin models that can be easily concealed. For battery-powered versions, I recommend paying attention to the runtime and how often the battery needs recharging, as this can become annoying with frequent use.

I completely understand the concern; I was also afraid of drilling holes for my Pax upgrade. What helped me was first experimenting with special power strips that can be removed without leaving any residue and hold surprisingly well. At first, I was skeptical about whether the lights would stay up, but after several weeks, I can say they hold perfectly! I secured the cables with small clip clamps that I simply glued to the sides.

Wow, such an interesting question! I also had to install something without drilling once, and I can only say: those magical little adhesive strips really work great! 😄 Honestly, a neatly installed cable looks almost invisible if you do it properly. Oh, and LED tape with sensors – then the light turns on automatically when you open the door, which is really nice inside a closet.
