Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble an IKEA Brimnes bed and have a specific question that’s causing me some uncertainty: How common are the pitfalls or typical issues when assembling this piece of furniture?
I have assembled a few IKEA furniture items before, but this time I want to avoid mistakes as much as possible and am looking for practical experience, especially regarding tricky areas. What should you pay special attention to, which parts often cause problems, and where do you need to be particularly careful to avoid errors in assembly, misalignment, or difficulties during installation?
Thanks for your insights and any practical tips!

Goodness, you’re almost making this a high-end project 😂
Jokes aside, there’s absolutely no reason to panic! Sure, a bit of patience and a delicate touch are needed, but it’s nothing catastrophic.
If you tackle the assembly as a team, you’re already halfway there. And if you don’t have patient helpers, at least keep a bottle of water and a good mood ready!
Also: even if you get tips here, spending an extra hour is better than 15 minutes of frustration. And only when fine-tuning do we reach for real tools like a rubber mallet and a spirit level. 😎

I enjoy assembling things like this on my own, but with Brimnes, I would also recommend having at least two people. The parts are not heavy, but in some places, you need a second hand to align everything precisely.
One more tip: Follow the order in the instructions exactly and avoid shortcuts—that way you’ll save yourself some frustration in the end.
All in all, the bed is sturdy and well-designed; it’s just the little details that make the difference.
