Hello everyone,

I know this is not directly related to gardening. But since it’s a question about a plant, I wasn’t sure where else to post it.
We have had an Aralia in our hallway for a few weeks now.

Green houseplant in a white square pot in a bright hallway next to window and door.

It has recently developed a peculiar infestation.

Green round leaves of a climbing plant with white spots on the leaf surface.

Some of the leaves are becoming blotchy.

And they are actually rotting away.

Does anyone know what this could be and how we can treat it?
We aren’t particularly attached to the plant, but it would be nicer to keep it if possible.

Best regards,
Tarnari

The usual suspects are scale insects, thrips, mealybugs, and spider mites. I've had quite good experience with Compo Triathlon Insect-Free.

Sometimes neem oil also helps (diluted and sprayed on the leaves as well as watered in to strengthen the plant).

Beneficial insects are also effective, but I haven't tried them yet, although my peace lily currently has thrips again 🙄 maybe I should order some as well...

Looks like some kind of louse or something similar to me. In my family, the leaves are always sprayed with soapy water, and the plant is placed outside for a few days.

It's really hard to figure out. Thanks for your tips. Let's see what we can do.
