Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Ours is also larger. It probably also depends on the installed components. Just because of the heat pump, we already had a second meter and a disconnection device. However, both were removed after we installed a photovoltaic system at the end of last summer. Since then, we have only had a single bidirectional meter.

Our electricians are finally back after being sick. Hopefully, I won’t have to get annoyed anymore because some idiots outside keep unplugging the temporary construction power, causing the heating to turn off during the ongoing screed drying program...

Is it just me, or does the electrical panel seem really oversized? Let’s wait and see how it looks when finished.

PS: We will be painting ourselves soon, and through a friend, I can get 20% off everything during a Hagebau promotion. What would you recommend? So far, I’ve heard suggestions like Alpina with the cat logo, Herbol Profi DIN White, or Schöner Wohnen Polar White. What have you used with good results?

Don’t buy any of those, get something decent instead...

If you are going to paint yourself, then you should use a quality product. At least something like Caparol silicate dispersion, for example.
We use Brillux Sensocryl, for instance.

Alright, I'll start then. Built from 1981 until now on foundations that are approximately 300 years old.
Bird’s eye view: White main house with red tiled roof, outbuildings, garden, and meadows.

We had hoped to get away with just one coat of a good paint. We tried two expensive options that didn’t convince us (one coat was really borderline), and in the end we applied two coats of the good Alpina, with a great result. We also did a test wall with all three paints, and we liked Alpina best in terms of color and texture. It was also easy to apply. Plus, it’s very cheap when on sale.

I wouldn’t put synthetic resin dispersion paint on the walls of my 500,000 Euro house. You should visit a specialized store and get proper advice. With Alpina, you can quickly paint a rental apartment nicely before moving out.
