Everything is going smoothly here.
The first rooms have already been primed:

In the second picture, you can see the extension at the head of the bed – an LED strip will be installed there to provide indirect lighting on the sloped ceiling.
It was supposed to be higher in my original idea, so that the back wall wouldn’t be visible – but this will probably work as well. Now I’m a bit unsure whether to ask for it to be redone or just accept it as is...

The main thing is that the attic hatch is sealed (or the pull-down stairs are already installed). If not, make sure to do it!
Otherwise, your roof structure will develop mold.Yes, from the very beginning we sealed the stair opening with a vapor barrier. It’s only about 95% airtight, since one corner can’t be sealed flush, but I hope that’s enough. In the first two weeks, there was extreme condensation—every few minutes it was like rain. If that moisture had moved upward … the pressure washer we used to wipe the windows ran at full speed for two weeks straight …Wickie schrieb:
@Climbee If you want to install an LED strip there, I would have the wall redone. Otherwise, you’d probably regret it all the time! It’s still quite easy to fix now! It’s less of an issue now – the ceiling will still be added, so the fit will be fine and the back edge won’t be visible anymore (because it will be set lower).
The illuminated sloping ceiling will not be plastered but made from whitewashed three-layer spruce boards. At first, we were unsure if it would look good, so we tried it somewhere else first. That turned out well! While any unevenness on a wall is clearly visible and often bothersome, it’s different with brushed wood – its irregularities are somewhat consistently uneven, which creates a different visual effect.
Outside, we will also have up-and-down lights on the front facade of the house – despite the irregular rhombus cladding we have. Of course, we tested that in advance. It is, naturally, different from a smooth wall, but we like it.
