Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I had to touch and feel several wood-look tiles to tell whether they were hardwood flooring or tiles.

The furniture will be white, yes.

I don’t like tiles because they are always cold underfoot, especially in summer since the underfloor heating in well-insulated houses isn’t used for 6–8 months. That’s why we only have tiles on the bathroom floor. But in the end, everyone has to feel comfortable in their own home.

The kitchen is arriving on Monday, so there will be more pictures then.

Wood-look tiles are not an option for me. It’s either real wood or tiles. Otherwise, it feels like vegetarian sausages.

Since Thursday, we have finally been in the house and are very relieved to have parquet flooring. On the ground floor, it’s whitewashed oak, and upstairs, whitewashed larch. Only the bathrooms and hallway have tiles. That seemed more practical to us, although we would have preferred parquet everywhere...

Hayden, such an old archway is truly a dream. I would love to have something like that as well. Hopefully, you will be able to preserve it.

I don’t like laminate or vinyl flooring. Everyone just has their own preferences.

Restaurants probably weren’t cleaned daily to the extent that a baby could safely play on the floor. I’m quite particular and vacuum and mop twice a day. That really isn’t good for wooden floors. We would have loved to use floorboards, but cleaning them that often just isn’t feasible. We are simply glad to have this option to still enjoy a warm wooden atmosphere.

Babies aren’t good for it either.

Recently, I saw a mom influenza (cleaning enthusiast) on YouTube doing a vacuum test, claiming she mops seven times a day. Yikes. Then, after years, she finally switched her favorite mop water to something else and was horrified for 30 minutes by how dirty the water turned out. She looked like she had a somewhat believable heart attack right there on camera, haha.

The wooden floors in traditional pubs were usually scrubbed.

We now live with laminate and vinyl. I find laminate awful (just plastic), vinyl feels somewhat better to the touch. However, no plastic floor will ever be installed in our wooden house, no matter what it’s called.
I also find tiles always cold underfoot; that’s why we have underfloor heating running year-round in our bathroom. Ideally, I want to have two heating circuits in the house: one for the bathrooms and one for the rest of the rooms.
Exactly for that reason.
