Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Not at all yet.
Personally, I would have kept it open until the kids are around because I really like it that way.

However, we are currently getting quotes for railings.
The plan is to have one with a wooden handrail and the rest made of stainless steel.

Something like this (just with a few fewer balusters):

What does your accident and life insurance say about that?

The plasterer applied plaster up to about 20cm (8 inches) below the top edge of the concrete stair treads and left the rest exposed.

We did it this way throughout the house wherever tiling was done (in the bathrooms, utility room, and pantry).

Then the tiling was installed, followed by a final plaster layer applied afterward, and finally a topcoat of plaster on top.
Of course, each time the floor coverings and stairs were carefully masked off.

All done by ourselves.

Thank you very much for the explanation. Wow, that sounds like a lot of work and probably added extra costs with the plasterer. But it really looks nice.

The staircase is absolutely stunning.

Wow, it really is amazing.

Today, our bathtub was delivered, and the tiles were grouted. I love the wood-look tiles.

I don’t like them at all. The more realistic they look like wood, the more uncomfortable I feel about letting water run over them. Of course, logically, I know it’s ceramic and it won’t swell. But that doesn’t help my feeling. Besides, in my opinion, not everything in the world needs to be given a strawberry flavor, and likewise, wood-look should remain a privilege of real wood.

Yes, I agree, I don’t like it at all either. But, as always, some people like it—some even install pink triangular tiles in their bathroom.

Bad taste only exists when it comes to food!
